Who doesn’t love the zoo? The Philadelphia Zoo is better known in the area, but the Cape May Zoo is the one I have always gone to on field trips and summers off of school. During this trip I learned about how much they are doing to conserve wildlife, which makes me love them even more!
My write up from phl17.com:
Take a break from crowded beaches and boardwalks this summer and venture to the Cape May County Park and Zoo! From their reptile house and World of Birds Aviary, to their snow leopard exhibit and Savanna Boardwalk, the zoo has flourished since its establishment in 1978. The animal population has grown to 550 animals, representing 250 species – including 13 flamingos from Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch.
New this summer is their Tree to Tree Adventure Park, featuring an aerial adventure course, zip lines, and Tarzan swings (to name a few). Be the first zip, swing, climb, and challenge your mind and body while having the time of your life!
But what makes Cape May County Park and Zoo even more special, is the fact that they do not charge for park entry and rely only on donations. They are also AZA accredited (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) and part of the Species Survival Plan, AZA’s flagship Animal Conservation Program.
The zoo is exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway and very easy to navigate through. For more information on tours and trips or to find out how to donate, check out CMCZoo.com.
